Magazine Cover Progress Two

Out of the photos of my main character, I chose this one for my main cover. I chose this photo because her hair was not fully covering her face and it was my favourite facial expression.

I opened my photo in Photoshop and began the process of making it look more like a sketched drawing. I separated the photo from the background to create a new layer. I also duplicated the layer.

I then used the colour dodge tool.

Using control + I, I inverted the photo. This made the page go completely white and the image wasn't visible. I then went on filter, then blur, then Gaussian Blur. I then took the saturation all the way down to zero. This made the image look like pencil drawing, like shown below.

I then carried out the same process again on the image of the ragdoll, rather than having feathers in the background like on the Little White Lies Magazine cover.

To achieve my target my research, planning and evaluation must be detailed, effectively communicated and presented digitally, using a wide variety of formats. I need detailed
research into similar products and target audience and to show the process of planning by including excellent work on shotlists, drafts, storyboards, scripts, locations and props. I need to show full evidence of the research and planning informing the construction process. My evaluation must reflect my excellent understanding of forms and conventions, an understanding of the use of new media throughout the stages of production, the way my ancillary and primary tasks combine effectively. There will be an excellent understanding of the significance of audience feedback. My production work, across the formats, will demonstrates excellent creativity and imagination as I seek to make them as convincing as possible and it will also reflect my mastery in technical skills such as controlled use of the camera, attention to framing, variety of shot sizes, close attention to mise-en-scène, appropriate transitions and use of sound.
