Evaluation Answer Seven

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

In order to produce an answer for question seven, I used Prezi to show the improvement between my original preliminary work and my final products. I have embedded this below.

In my Prezi, I explained the improvements in my work due to my technical skills improving, however, it was not only this that led to my improvements. Market research, audience feedback, targeting my audience and learning the conventions of magazine design in order to appeal to a larger audience (rather than a niche audience of just over a thousand pupils, like in my preliminary task) also all helped me improve my work. Market research played a key role in my improvements as during my preliminary task, no market research was carried out. Whereas with my music magazine, I was able to create questionnaires and find out what my specific target audience would want in a music magazine, therefore my work would be better suited to them in the end, making them more likely to enjoy it and purchase it. Audience feedback helped greatly when it came to improving from my preliminary task to my final task due to the fact that they could specifically tell me the colours, images and styles they wanted within my genre. In my first task, I was unsure and picked colours and fonts that I liked, rather than what the consumer liked, this was a problem as if it was styled to only my taste, the consumers would not want to buy it as they may hate it.
